Sustainability at Hunter Management Accountancy

Environmental Responsibility

As a small, home-based accountancy practice, our direct environmental impact is modest, but we believe even small businesses can make a difference. We actively work to reduce our footprint by:
-
Minimising paper use and working electronically with clients using secure, cloud-based solutions such as QuickBooks, Xero, FreeAgent and BrightManager and Adobe Sign.

-
Limiting travel through the use of Microsoft Teams for meetings and Loom for sharing video updates.

-
Operating from home offices, which significantly reduces commuting emissions.

We support climate action projects through Ecologi, aiming to plant 1,000 trees by end of our financial year and helping to avoid an estimated 46 tonnes of carbon emissions. These contributions support projects that reduce future emissions and restore ecosystems, and we see them as a way to contribute beyond our own small footprint, not as a replacement for reducing it.

People and Community

We offer flexible and remote working arrangements, which support our team's work-life balance and reduce emissions from commuting. We are committed to being a responsible and supportive employer, fostering a positive workplace culture.

We also support organisations that made a tangible difference to people's lives. Our ongoing fundraising for Against Malaria Foundation and the International Rescue Committee helps provide life-saving resources to vulnerable populations globally.

Looking Ahead

We will continue to review our operations to find further opportunities to reduce our environmental impact, for example by exploring more energy efficient technology, and we will contribute to meaningful social and environmental initiatives as we grow.

Against Malaria Foundation
A great cause that we want to support as much as possible is the Against Malaria Foundation. Malaria kills 400,000 people per year and the AMF works to prevent the spread of malaria by distributing long-lasting, insecticide-treated mosquito nets to susceptible populations in developing countries. AMF has been active in 36 countries in Africa, Asia and South America, with a particular focus on sub-Saharan Africa. Our supporter page will track our contributions and please have a look at their site and contribute if you are inspired by their work.
International Rescue Committee UK
The International Rescue Committee helps people whose lives or livelihoods have been shattered by conflict and disaster, including the climate crisis, to survive, recover and gain control over their future. Our JustGiving supporter page will track our contributions and please have a look at their site and contribute with us if you are inspired by their work.
Ecologi
Ecologi has planted over 75 million trees and supports climate action projects around the world. We are making a contribution monthly for each member of the team to plant over 200 trees a year - have a look at our garden to track our contribution.
